Even if this game is a Daikatana level failure, it will forever be etched into gaming history and pop culture. And I think that was always the point: the game could never live up to the hype, but it doesn't have to. I'm starting to wonder if this game was purposely designed to be a parody of modern gaming. From the gameplay videos I've seen, it doesn't look bad. The ego system seems to be a little more complex than I was lead to believe. It is straight regenerating health, but there are a lot of objects in the environment that increase your health, and you can regain lost health instantly by performing context sensitive actions such as executing enemies and admiring yourself in a mirror. Even with the modern FPS concessions such as regen health and the two weapon limit, it looks a lot more like Doom 3 or Prey. I'm definitely going to preorder this now. At the very least it can't be any worse than Bulletstorm.

In spite of the word on the street, think of it this way: At least it's finally out.
Now that it's out of the way, there's just, for me at least, one other highly requested title that needs to come out: Shenmue III.

I want Descent 4 After playing the DNF demo, I'll probably not grab the game for a long time. It wasn't great at all.

I'm hoping the game's quality is just on the level of Too Human, so that people will finally shut up about it and let Gearbox get back to making shallow Fallout 3-esque dungeon crawlers.

You know, I am almost tempted to give this a whirl cause from what I here it is a total relic and hey- I hate modern FPS games so maybe this would be more up my alley. If not it's back to the Darkside fanmod of Quake.

Total Biscuit's review of the demo is pretty hilarious.

Here's my favorite quote from the Joystiq article, and just about all you need to read from it: "Thankfully, the FPS genre and the people who enjoy it have grown up and moved on." Yeah, they're 13 now and moved on from calling people "f*ggot" to "n*****". Man, I hate Joystiq.

Total Biscuit's review of the demo is pretty hilarious. I had to skip ahead nearly twenty minutes before any significant action happened. And the whole thing is an ultra-linear tunnel. And there was God of War-style button mashing to open doors. And then there was a boring turret sequence. And then there was a driving sequence. This is definitely a modern shooter. Boring as hell and a waste of my time.

I think everyone owes it to themselves to play this thing when it finally comes out. Not because it's going to be a great game, but rather for its historical significance to the medium.

Gotta agree Feynman- that looks hideous When even the Duke has button mashing, 2 gun limits and horrible scripted sequences you know something is wrong. If I wanted to watch a hollywood film I would go to the cinema FFS (or play the original Metal Gear Solid- patchow!). Stop holding our hands! Stop inflicting sh*tty "cinematic action" on us! Let us play games you absolute nob-ends!

Not really, people should only spent money on games they actually like if they're not hardcore collectors. Besides, the original Duke Nukem Forever was canceled years ago. This is just a different game made by a different team (I doubt the same developers were literally working on this for over a decade) with the same title.
